The Pines is close to the spectacular Wentworth Falls and wonderful
views of the Jamison Valley and escarpments. Extensive, well-maintained
bushwalks of various degrees of difficulty and lengths follow
the escarpments around the Falls and a section of the Darwin Walk
begins just along Falls Road. You do not have to travel far to
enjoy the delights of many mountain gardens which are often open
to the public for a small fee. From Glenbrook to Mount Victoria,
gardening is a popular pursuit and autumn and spring are the best
times to visit the cool climate masterpieces of private homes
and local government.
It is a few
minutes drive to the boutiques of Leura Mall and the sensational
Three Sisters, Skyway and Scenic Railway at Katoomba. The Conservation
Hut is just around the corner. The Wentworth Falls Lake is well
worth a visit to feed the ducks or enjoy a picnic.
If you want
to take a scenic day trip, then Jenolan Caves, Mt Wilson, Mt Tomah
Botanic Gardens and the Zig Zag Railway are within a comfortable
hour's drive away. There are many scenic drives that can be taken
around the escarpments as well with not to be missed Valley of
Waters, Weeping Rock, Lilian's Bridge and Water Nymph's Dell with
it's Fire Flies and Glow Worms. Visit or play a few rounds at
the Golf links at Lawson, Wentworth Falls and Leura.
Historic buildings,
museums, a Conservatorium, School of Arts, Galleries and friendly
Churches add to the appeal of this lovely village. Brochures and
information on all main attractions, activities and restaurants
are available in the compendium in the house. Come and enjoy.
